備中国青江派は、平安末期承安頃の安次を祖として始まると伝え、以後南北朝時代に至るまで、多くの名工を輩出した。その多くが「次」の字を通字としている。その作風は、いわゆる縮緬状の肌合となり、地班の交じるものが多く、刃文は直刃調の穏やかなものや小乱れを交えるものなどあり、一般によく沸がつき、総じて同時代の備前物に比べると幾分地味で深い味わいを醸す感がある。延次は、古くは守次の子が鎌倉初期におり、銘鑑には南北朝初期にかけて4人ほどその名が見られる。この太刀は、身幅尋常、反りやや深く、腰反りつき、小鋒となる優美な姿で、小板目肌つみ、小杢目肌交じり、地沸微塵に厚くつき、地景細かく入り、縮緬状の肌となり、映り立つ極めて精良な地鉄に、直刃調に、小乱れ交じり、小沸よく付き、古調で味わい深く、技倆の高さが伺える最高傑作である。The Bicchu Aoe school is said to have originated from Yasuji in the late Heian period, around the time of Shoan, and produced many master craftsmen until the period of the Northern and Southern Courts. Many of them use the character 'next' as a commuter. The style is a so-called crepe-like texture, and many of them are mixed with jifu, and the blade pattern has a gentle straight blade style and some with small irregularities. Compared to other things, it has a somewhat plain and deep taste. In the old days, Enji had a son of Moritsugu in the early Kamakura period, and the names of four of them can be seen in the meikan from the early period of the Nanbokucho.
This Tachi has a standard Mihaba, slightly deep Sori, Koshizori-tsuki, with a graceful appearance Small-Kissaki, Small-Itamehada-tsumi, Mixed Small-Mokumehada, Jinie entered fine and thick, Chikei entered finely, like a Chirimen-hada, Utsuritatsu clear good Jigane, Suguha-style, Mixed Small-Midare, Small^Nie-tsuki, It is an old-fashioned and quaint masterpiece that shows the high level of craftsmanship.
