- 御勝山永貞は、江戸時代美濃を代表する名工で、重要刀剣に多数認定されている。名を松井治一郎といい、美濃国不破郡で文化六年に生まれ、美濃鍛冶の祖である金重の末流と伝える。松江や伊勢で鍛刀し、一時紀州徳川家の御用鍛冶をつとめ紀州に移り、その後伊勢、江戸青山などでも鍛刀している。明治になり郷里の御勝山麓に戻り、明治二年六十一歳で没する。御勝山は、徳川家康が関ヶ原の合戦で陣を置いた山で勝利の後名付けたという。この刀は、身幅広く3.35cmある豪壮な平身の脇差で、地沸微塵につき地景頻りに入る美しい地鉄に、沸匂極めて深い華やかで覇気溢れる刃を焼き、地刃明るく冴える重要レベルの傑作である。Okachiyama Eisada was a master craftsman representing Mino during the Edo period, and has been recognized by many Juyo Tokens. His name was Matsui Jiichiro, and he was born in Bunka 6th in Fuwa County, Mino Province, and is said to be a descendant of Kaneshige, the father of Mino blacksmithing. He forged swords in Matsue and Ise, served as the official swordsmith for the Kishu Tokugawa family for a time before moving to Kishu, and then forged swords in Ise, Edo Aoyama, and other places. In the Meiji era, he returned to his hometown at the foot of Mt. Okachi and died in 1869 at the age of 61.
Okachiyama is the mountain where Tokugawa Ieyasu set up camp during the Battle of Sekigahara, and was named after him after his victory.
