説明Drscription
国宗は、鎌倉中期に新田荘に住した刀工で、福岡一文字直宗の子国真の三男であったことから備前三郎と呼称されており、同時代の光忠とは、系統を異にしている。後に鎌倉幕府に召されて同地に下向し、鎌倉鍛冶の開拓者の一人となった。この太刀は、茎尻に国宗の二字銘が残る、元は三尺七分程もあった大太刀で、磨上ながら身幅広く、反り深く腰反り高い凛とした姿に、乱れ映りが立ち、直刃調、小丁子頻りに交じり、湯走り・二十刃頻りに掛り、足・葉頻りに入り、小沸が深くつき、金筋砂流し掛り、匂口明るく冴える国宗後期の作域を示す傑作である。Kunimune was a swordsmith who lived in Nittanosho in the mid-Kamakura period. He was the third son of Kunizane, the son of Fukuoka Ichimonji Naomune, and was nicknamed Bizen Saburo. He was of a different lineage from Mitsutada, who lived in the same era.
He was later summoned by the Kamakura shogunate and traveled there, becoming one of the pioneers of Kamakura blacksmithing.
