The Sanjo school is the oldest school of Japanese swords, not just in Yamashiro, and its founder, Munechika, is said to have been active in the mid-Heian period, around 987 during the reign of Emperor Ichijo, and is known as a master swordsmith during the period when Japanese swords changed from straight swords to curved ones.
Kanenaga is said to be either the son or grandson of Munechika, and moved from Sanjo to Gojo, becoming known as the founder of the Gojo school.
This sword has Wide Mihaba, Deep Sori, The elegant and dignified form of the Heian period with Small-Kissaki, Itamehada, Mixed Mokume, Jinie entered fine and thick, Chikei entered frequently, Nie-Utsuritatsu with beautiful Jigane, Small-Midare, Small-Chouji and Small-Gunome. It has a mixture of angular blades, Small-Ashi entered frequently, Small-Nie entered deeply, Kinsuji entered frequently, This is a masterpiece of Gojo Kanenaga Kiwame sword, showcasing the elegance of Sanjo and Gojo.
