- 古伯耆鍛治は、三条宗近などと並び、直刃から湾刀に移行した日本刀最初期の一派で、平安中期から活躍した。祖と云われる安綱の名物童子切が名高い。貞綱は、安綱の孫と伝え、平安後期に活躍している。この刀は、元は二尺八寸ほどもある大太刀で、磨上ながら、身幅広く、腰反りつく豪壮な姿を残し、つんだ杢目交じりの板目肌に、地沸微塵に厚くつき、地景頻りに入る黒みを帯びた地鉄に、小乱れに互の目・小丁子交じり、湯走り・飛び焼き頻りに掛り、小足・葉頻りに入り、沸よくつき、粗めの沸を交え、金筋・砂流し掛り、匂口明るい。頗る健全で、野趣に富み古雅な優品である。Kohouki Yasutsuna, along with Sanjo Munechika and others, was one of the earliest master craftsmen of Japanese swords, He was one of the earliest master craftsmen of Japanese swords, who moved from Suguha to Wantou.
