- 鎬造、庵棟、身幅尋常、鎬高く、反りやや浅く、腰反りつき、中鋒。Shinogidukuri, Iorimune, Standard Mihaba, High Shinogi, Slightly shallow Sori, Koshizori-tsuki, Chu-Kissaki.

- 千手院派は、平安時代後期に興ったとされる大和最古の流派で、大和国奈良の東大寺に隷属する僧形の承仕法師が、もっぱら東大寺の僧兵の為に鍛刀をしていた。そのため在名作は希である。若草山麓の千手谷で鍛刀しており、同地に千手観音を本尊とする千手院堂があり、その名が付いたと云う。この刀は、鎬高く、やや反りの浅い優美な生ぶ茎となる太刀で、直刃にほつれ、打ちのけ・喰違刃、湯走り・二十刃などかかり、小足・葉頻りに入り、小沸よくつき、金筋幾重にも長く頻りに掛るなど、刃縁に様々な変化と働きを見せ、帽子は焼き詰めるなど古調な出来で、千手院の特色をよく示し、匂口明るく冴え渡る。古砥とはなるが、砥ぎで見違える出来になると思われる名品である。The Senjuin school is the oldest school in Yamato, which is said to have been established in the latter half of the Heian period. A monk-shaped swordsmith who belongs to Todaiji Temple in Yamatonokuni Nara was swordsmithing exclusively for Todaiji Temple monks. There is a smithy in Senjudani at the foot of Mt. Wakakusa, and there is Senjuindo, whose principal image is Senju Kannon, and it got its name.
This sword has High Shinogi, It is a long sword with a slightly shallow and elegant Ubu Nakago. Suguha-Hotsure, Uchinoke, Kuichigaiba, Yubashiri, Nijuba-kakari, Small-Ashi and You entered, Small-Nie entered well, Kinsuji hangs long, over and over, Show Habuchi various changes and functions, Boushi is made in an old-fashioned way, such as Yaki-tsumeru. It shows the characteristics of Senjuin well, and Nioikuchi is bright and clear.Although it is an old sharpening(Furu-Togi)technique, it is a masterpiece that can be improved by sharpening it.
