- 初代信国は了戒の孫で、相州貞宗の門に学ぶと伝え、信国派は大いに栄えた。室町初期に、三代源左衛門の子貞光が、大友・宇佐氏の招きに応じ、了戒派とともに豊前に移り、その後江戸初期には黒田氏が筑前を治めた頃より、黒田藩お抱えとなっている。吉包は、名を助左衛門といい、江戸前期寛文頃に活躍している。この刀は、小板目肌つみ、地沸微塵につき、地景入る精良な地鉄に、焼き幅大きな互の目丁子を華やかに焼き、沸深く、金筋・砂流し、稲妻幾重にも頻りにかかるなど、刃中の働き見事で、匂深く、匂口明るく冴える優品である。The first Nobukuni was the grandson of Ryokai and is said to have studied under Sosyu Sadamune, and the Nobukuni school prospered very much.
In the early Muromachi period, Sadamitsu, the son of the third Genzaemon, accepted an invitation from the Otomo and Usa clans and moved to Buzen with the Ryokai faction. Later, in the early Edo period, when the Kuroda clan ruled Chikuzen, he became a retainer of the Kuroda clan.
Yoshikane's real name was Sukezaemon, and he was active around the Kanbun period in the early Edo period.
