信家とは、安土桃山時代に鍔を造って活躍した鍔工。金家と並び称され名品が多く残っている。年紀作がないために明瞭な来歴は不明であるが、金山、尾張透、山吉、法安など尾張鍔工と類似品が多くみられ有縁の鍔工と考えられている。
形状は木瓜形や丸形が多く、特に木瓜形は信家木瓜という言葉があるほど、整然としたまとまりのある力感に溢れた形態をなしている。信家鐔の特色は鉄の鍛えが無類に良く、重ねの厚い板鍔に毛彫を施している。銘は殆ど「信家」と二字銘で切る。「放れ銘」と「太字銘」の二種類に別けられる。

Nobuie was a tsuba maker active in the AzuchiMomoyama period. It is acclaimed to be on a par with Kaneie, and many masterpieces remain. As there are no dates for its production, its clear history is unknown, but there are many similar pieces to Owari tsuba works such as Kaneie, Owari Sukashi, Yamayoshi, and Houan, and it is thought to be related to them.The shape is often Mokkougata or round, and the Mokkougata shape in particular is so neat and powerful that it has the term "Nobuie Mokkou". The characteristic of Nobuie tsuba is the excellent forging of the iron, and the thick Kasane Itatsuba with Kebori.
Most of the inscriptions are just the two characters "Nobuie". There are two types: "Hanare mei" and "Futoji Mei(Bold inscription)".
