- 吉房は、助真、則房と並ぶ鎌倉中期福岡一文字の代表工で、変化に富んだ 華麗な作風を呈し、国宝5口・重要文化財3口・重要美術品が5口あり、幾多の名作を残している。本作は、身幅広く、腰反りつき、中鋒に結ぶ鎌倉前期の体配で、板目肌に、杢目交じり、地沸微塵に厚く付き、地景よく入り、映りが立つ美しい地鉄に、小乱れ・小丁子交じり、飛び焼き頻りに掛り、小足・葉頻りに入り、沸深くつき、金筋・砂流し頻りに掛るなど刃中よく働き、匂深く、匂口明るく冴える最高傑作である。吉房の初期作の古備前風の作域となり、深い味わいを醸成し、働き豊かで、頗る健体、屈指の出来である。Yoshifusa, along with Sukezane and Norifusa, is a representative Fukuoka Ichimonji artisan of the mid-Kamakura period, and is known for his varied and magnificent style.

This sword has wide Mihaba, Koshizori-tsuki.
This is a masterpiece of the early Kamakura period, featuring a Chu-Kissaki finish. Itamehada, Mixed Mokume, Jinie entered fine and thick, Chikei entered frequently, Utsuritatsu with beautiful Jigane, Small-Midare, Mixed Small-Chouji, tobiyaki-shikirinikakari, Small-Ashi and You entered frequently, Nie entered deeply, Kinsuji and Sunagashi-shikirinikakaru, It works well in sword, Deep Nioi, Nioikuchi is bright and clear. This work is in the style of Yoshifusa's early works, the Ko-Bizen style, and has a deep flavor, rich texture, and is in excellent condition, making it one of his finest works.
