Naoe Suketomo is said to be a descendant of Naoe Kanetsugu of the Uesugi clan. He was born in Mito as the son of Sukemasa, and together with his father he became a member of the Suishinshi Masahide school. Later he returned to Mito and forged swords as a feudal lord.
At Suketomo's forge, Tokugawa Nariaki (Retsuko) made a sword with Suketomo's guidance. He is a representative Mito swordsmith ranked in the Shinshinto Josaku class.
This sword has Wide Mihaba, Thick Kasane, Koshizori-tsuki, Deep Sori appearance, Masamehada-tsumi, Jinie entered fine and thick with clear beautiful Jigane, Chu-Suguha, Kuichigai-kakari, Small-Nie-tsuki, Kinsuji-kakari, Nioikuchi is bright and clear, A masterpiece.
