勝光には、同名数工いるが、特に上手な刀工が右京亮勝光、その子次郎左衛門尉勝光である。右京亮勝光は、初代助光の子で、長享から文明にかけ活躍している。弟の左京進宗光や与三左衛門尉祐定との合作刀も多く存在し、重文・重美・重要刀剣など多数指定されている。この刀は、俗名は入っていないが、文明十八年の右京亮勝光の作となり、片手打ちの姿で、乱れ映りがたつ地鉄に、小足・葉頻りに入る、小互の目交じりの直刃調の刃を焼き、金筋砂流し入るなど働き豊かで、匂口明るく出来が良い。Katsumitsu had several swordsmiths with the same name, but the most skilled swordsmiths were UkyoRyo Katsumitsu and his son Jirozaemonnojo Katsumitsu.Jirozaemonnojo Katsumitsu is the son of Ukyoryo Katsumitsu, and was active from Chokyo to Bunmei.
