Drscription
The Goto family prospered for 400 years, serving the shogunate family from the first Yujo who served Ashikaga Yoshimasa to the 17th Norijo. Yujo I established the elaborate and prestigious Goto carving (Iebori) by compiling the Mino carving style.

Eijo was born in 1577 as the eldest son of the fifth Tokujo. He was employed by the Toyotomi family, but after the fall of the Toyotomi family, the Tokugawa shogunate allowed him to revive it, and in 1616, Hidetada, the second shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate, appointed him as a carving yaku. He was active in various fields of metal engraving, culture and finance while retaining the honor of Goto in a time of great change. He died on April 4, 1617.
