- 福岡一文字派は鎌倉初期、後鳥羽院御番鍛冶則宗を祖として始まると伝え、鎌倉中期にかけて多くの良工が輩出した。この派が一文字と呼称される所以は、茎に｢一｣の字をきることに因るが、銘は｢一｣の字のみのものと、他に｢一｣の字の下にさらに個銘を加えるもの、また個銘だけのものもある。これらの中で最も華やかで変化に富んだ丁子乱れの作風を展開しているのは、鎌倉中期の作である。助重は、古くは後鳥羽院御番鍛冶の助成同人という。この刀は、反り深く、腰反りつき、小鋒となる優美な姿で、乱れ映りが鮮やかに立ち、地沸が微塵につく精良な地鉄に、丁子乱れに、互の目・蛙子調の丁子など交え、足・葉頻りに入り、小沸深くつき、下半は更に良く沸えて、金筋頻りに掛り、匂口明るく健全である。The Fukuoka Ichimonji faction reported that it started with Gotobain Gobankaji Norimune in the early Kamakura period, and many good craftsmen were produced in the middle of Kamakura.
