- 昭平刀匠は、本名を宮入堅一といい、大正2年長野県に生まれ、昭和12年栗原彦三郎の日本刀鍛錬伝習所に入門、新作日本刀展覧会、陸軍軍刀展で多くの賞を受賞。昭和27年、師栗原彦三郎の呼びかけに応じ、講和記念刀を制作する。昭和28年美術刀剣の作刀が可能になり文化財保護委員会より製作承認を受ける。昭和30年より昭和34年まで日本美術刀剣保存協会の作刀技術発表会で特賞を受賞、昭和35年無鑑査。昭和38年に重要無形文化財保持者(人間国宝)に認定される。昭和48年「昭平」を「行平」と改める。昭和52年64歳で没。この刀は、昭和15年、皇紀二千六百年を記念して作られたもので、板目肌に、流れ肌交じり、地景細かく頻りに入り、明るく冴える美しい地鉄に、互の目に、丁子刃・角ばった刃・尖刃など交え、変化に富み、足・葉よく入り、沸よくつき、金筋・砂流し頻りにかかり、匂口明るく、若打ちながら、その類稀な才能を遺憾無く発揮している。地刃冴える現代刀の最高峰と言える傑作である。登録証は、紛失の為再交付を受けております。Swordsmith Shohei, whose real name is Kenichi Miyairi, was born in Nagano Prefecture in the 2nd year of the Taisho era.He entered Hikosaburo Kurihara's Japanese sword training school in 1933, and won many awards at the New Japanese Sword Exhibition and the Army Gunto Exhibition.
In 1951, he responded to the call of his master Hikosaburo Kurihara and created the Kouwa-Kinen sword.
In 1951, it became possible to make art swords and the production was approved by the Cultural Properties Protection Committee.
From 1955 to 1955, he won the special prize at the Japanese Art Sword Preservation Association's sword making technique presentation, and in 1960, he received the Mukansa.
In 1961, he was certified as a Juyo-Mukei Bunkazai Hojisya(Ningen-Kokuhou)(holder of important intangible cultural property Ningen Kokuho(Living National Treasure). In 1971, "Shohei" was changed to "Yukihira". He passed away in 1972 at the age of 64.
