- 来国光は、来国俊の子で、来派の中でも最も作域が広く、年紀作は、鎌倉末期の正和二年（1313年）から、元徳・貞和を経て南北朝中期の観応二年（1351年）に及び、44振が国宝・重文・重美に指定されている山城伝の代表工である。この刀は、磨上げて反りは浅くなっているが、鋒延びごころの南北朝時代の太刀姿で、小杢目交じりの小板目肌がつみ、地沸微塵に厚くつき、地景細かく頻りに入り、冴えた美しい地鉄に、中直調に、小丁子・小互の目かかり、小沸深くよくつき、金筋・砂流し細かく頻りにかかり、刃中良く働き、匂口明るく冴える傑出した出来である。頗る健全で、砥ぎも最上砥が掛けられている特別重要レベルの一口である。Rai Kunimitsu is the son of Rai Kunitoshi, and has the widest range of works among the Rai school.
