Sairen is the son of Ryosai, who is said to be the founder of Chikuzen blacksmithing, Jitsua's father, and Osa's grandfather. A master blacksmith from the late Kamakura era Eihito, whose name is Kuniyoshi, and Sairen is his master's name. There are inscriptions such as ``Chikuzen Province Hakata Judangisho Sairenboshi Kuniyoshi,'' and the Chinzei Dangisho was established in Hakata by the Kamakura Shogunate in the 9th year of Koan after the Bunei-Koan War (so-called Genko). It belongs to the , and is forged in preparation for the Mongol invasion.
