姿Shape

鎬造、庵棟、身幅広く、反り深く、中鋒やや延びる。Shinogidukuri, Iorimune, Wide Mihaba, Deep Sori, Chu-Kissaki slightly extended.

鍛Kitae

杢目肌に、板目肌交じり、地沸微塵に厚くつき、地景細かく入り、鉄冴える。Mokumehada, Mixed Itamehada, Jinie entered fine and thick, Chikei entered finely, Iron is clear.

刃文Hamon

丁子乱れに、小丁子交じり、足・葉よく入り、沸よく付き、金筋・沸筋・砂流し頻りにかかり、匂口明るい。Chouji-midare, Mixed Small-Chougi, There are many Ashi and You, Nie entered well, Kinsuji and Niesuji and Sunagashi-shikirinikakari, Nioikuchi is bright.

帽子Boushi

説明Drscription

天田昭次は、本名を天田誠一といい、昭和2年に天田貞吉の長男として新潟県で生まれ、昭和15年3月上京し、栗原彦三郎昭秀の日本刀鍛錬伝習所に入門、昭和29年より作刀を開始、昭和30年第1回作刀技術発表会に出品し優秀賞を受賞、昭和34年より自家製鉄を始める。その後新作名刀展において数々の賞を受賞、昭和47年には無鑑査認定、昭和48年伊勢神宮式年遷宮御神宝大刀を製作奉仕、昭和53年新潟県無形文化財に指定される。昭和52年、同60年には正宗賞を受賞、平成２年全日本刀匠会理事長に就任、平成９年に国の重要無形文化財保持者 (人間国宝) に認定される。平成25年85歳で没。
この刀は、身幅広く3.4㎝あり、重ね厚く、反り深く、先幅も広く、重量も１kgに迫る堂々とした姿の豪壮太刀で、板目肌に、杢目肌がよく入り、綾杉肌となる美しく冴えた地鉄に、変化のある丁子乱れを見事に焼いた一文字あたりを狙った作で、足よく入り、匂口明るく冴え、出来が優れている。頗る健全で生ぶ刃がしっかり残り、疵、欠点も一切なく、砥ぎの状態も申し分無い、現代刀の最高峰と言える最高傑作である。Akitsugu Amada's real name is Seiichi Amada, and he was born in Niigata Prefecture in 1928 as the eldest son of Sadakichi Amada.
In March 1945, he moved to Tokyo and entered the Japanese sword training school of Hikosaburo Akihide Kurihara, and began making swords in 1955.In 1955, he submitted his work to the 1st Sword Making Techniques Presentation and won the Excellence Award, in 1955. Started making homemade iron in 2013.Afterwards, he received numerous awards at the New Sword Exhibition, was certified without inspection in 1971, served as a production member for the Ise Jingu Shikinen Sengu Sacred Treasure Sword in 1978, and was designated as a Niigata Prefecture Intangible Cultural Property in 1973. He received the Masamune Prize in 1972 and 1970, became the chairman of the All Japan Swordsmiths Association in 1990, and was recognized as a holder of an important intangible cultural property (Living National Treasure) in 1997. He passed away in 2013 at the age of 85.
This sword has wide Mihaba 3.4cm, Thick Kasane, Deep Sori, Wide Sakihaba,A magnificent Tachi with a dignified appearance weighing almost 1 kg. Itamehada, Mokume-hada entered well. Ayasugihada in beautiful clear Jitetsu, A work aimed at Ichimonji, which beautifully the varied Chouji-Midare. There are many Ashi, Nioikuchi is bright and clear, It works well in sword. Ubuha remains firmly in Kenzen,There are no scratches or defects, and the condition of the polishing is perfect. It is a masterpiece that can be said to be the pinnacle of modern swords.
