- 国儔は、堀川国広の甥で、国広と同じ日向国飫肥に生まれ、国広の門人となり、山城堀川に住した。同門の大阪鍛治の祖となった初代国貞・初代国助は直接的指導は国儔が行ったと云われる。国広との合作刀が重要文化財に、一振が重要美術品に指定されている。この刀は、身幅広く、元先の幅差つく寛文新刀の姿に、小板目肌に、杢目交じり、地沸厚くつき、地景細かく入り、明るく冴える地鉄は、さすがに大坂新刀屈指の美しさである。小のたれに、互の目・丁子刃交じり、足・葉よく入り、小沸深くつき、金筋・沸筋・砂流しかかり、匂深く、匂口明るく冴え、刃中もよく沸えて華やかとなる、地刃共に頗る健全で冴え渡る傑作である。茎裏に入る寤寐(ごび)之友は、寝ている時も起きている時も共にという意味で、よほど国儔にとって会心の出来であったと思われる。Kunitomo was Kunihiro Horikawa's nephew, was born in the same Hyuganokuniobi area as Kunihiro, became a disciple of Kunihiro, and lived in Yamashiro Horikawa.
Kunitomo is said to have provided direct guidance to Kunisada I and Kunisuke I, who were the founders of the Osaka Kaji school. The sword created in collaboration with Kunihiro has been designated as an important cultural property( Juyo Bunkazai) , and the sword has been designated as an important art object( Juyo bijutsuhin).
This sword has wide Mihaba In the appearance of Motosaki's Habasa-tsuku Kanbun Shinto, Small-Itamehada, Mixed Mokume, Jinie entered thick, Chikei entered finely, Bright and clear Jitetsu As expected, it is one of the most beautiful Osaka new swords.
Small-Notare, Gunome, Mixed Choujiba, There are many Ashi and You well, Small-Nie entered deeply, Kinsuji and Niesuji, Sunagashi-kakari, Deep Nioi, Nioikuchi is bright and clear. The inside of the blade also looks gorgeous,It is a masterpiece with a clear Kenzen that stands out with Jiba.
Gobinotomo which entered the back on Nakago, was said to be a very close friend of Kunitomo, meaning that he was with him both when he was asleep and when he was awake.It seems that it was a great success for Kunitomo.
