KagaKatsuie is said to be the child of Echizen Chiyoduru Kunitsugu, who follows the trend of coming to Japan, and moved to Kaga around Oei (1394) in the early Muromachi period, becoming the ancestor of the Kaga Dharani school.

This Dharani school was under the patronage of the Maeda clan in the Edo period and prospered until the end of the Edo period.
