The Shimada school was a sect that lived on the left bank of the Oigawa River in Suruga Province, and began with Gisuke around Yasumasa in the middle of the Muromachi period, and included Sukemune, Hirosuke, Yoshitsuna, and Motosuke.It is said that the first generation Gisuke was given the character ``Gi'' by Yoshitada Imagawa and called himself ``Gisuke'', and Sukemune and Hirosuke especially gained the acquaintance of the Takeda clan and made swords in Koshu as well. Sukemune's name was Gojo Kyusaemon, and he is said to have been Yoshisuke's younger brother, and was active around the time of Tenbun. He is also famous as the author of the short sword with the character ``probably'' that belonged to Shingen Takeda, which is probably the origin of the name Zō.
