- 初代和泉守国貞は、天正十七年（１５８９年）に日向で生まれ、後に上京し親戚と伝わる堀川国広の門となるが、国貞の初期の作風や銘振りから見て、兄弟子である越後守国儔から指導を受けたと思われる。慶長十九年（１６１４年）国貞二十五歳の時に師である国広が亡くなり、その後同門である初代河内守国助と共に大坂へ移住し大阪新刀の礎を築き、元和九年（１６２３年）に和泉守を受領している。初二代共に和泉守国貞と銘を切ることから、初代国貞を通称親国貞、二代国貞を真改国貞と呼んでいるが、初代晩年には、二代井上真改が父の代作をしている。慶安五年（１６５２年）六十三歳没。この刀は、小板目肌つみ、地沸微塵に厚くつき、地景細かく入り、明るく冴えた精良な地鉄に、焼き幅大きな互の目に、丁子刃・小互の目交じり、変化に富んだ華やかな刃を焼き、足・葉よく入り、小沸深くつき、匂深く、匂口明るく冴える。深い匂口、沸匂の織りなす様には目を見張るものがあり、地刃共に明るく冴え出来が良い。The first Izminokami Kunisada was born in Hinata in 1589, and later moved to Tokyo to become the gate of Kunihiro Horikawa, who was handed down to his relatives. This sword is thickly attached to Koitamehada Tsumi and Jinie fine dust, Chikei finely enters, bright and clear fine ground iron, Gunome with a wide firing width, Chouji blade and small-Gunome mixed, and a variety of gorgeous blades are baked. Ashi and Ha often enter, Konie deep, Nioi deep, Nioikuchi bright and clear. The deep Nioikuchi and Nienioi weaves are striking, and both the ground blades are bright and clear.
