- 正宗十哲の一人に数えられる兼氏が大和より美濃国志津の地に移り一派は栄えたが、後に門人である兼友・兼次・兼重・兼信らが同国直江の地に移住して作刀したため、南北朝時代に活躍したこの刀工達を直江志津と呼んでいる。この刀は、元は三尺ほどはあったと思われる太刀で、磨上げて反りは浅めとなるが、身幅広く、重量もあり、健全で姿がよく、小沸が厚くつき、地景細かく入り、映りたつ冴えた地鉄に、下半焼幅狭く、小のたれに、小互の目交じり、上半のたれに、互の目・尖り刃交じり、所々焼幅大きく互の目が入り、湯走りかかり、二十刃ごころになるなど変化に富み、沸美しくつき、沸筋・砂流し頻りにかかり、殊に地刃の冴えは素晴らしく、出来が優れている。Kaneuji, one of Masamune-Jittetsu, moved from Yamato to the land of Minonokuni Shizu and the faction prospered, but later his students Kanetomo, Kanetsugu, Kaneshige, Kanenobu and others moved to the land of Naoe in the same area and made swords. , These swordsmiths who were active in the Nanbokuchou era are called Naoeshidu.
This sword is a Tachi that was originally about 90 cm long, and Suriage and Sori is shallow, but Widely Mihaba, heavy, Kenzen looks good, Konie is thick, Chikei is finely inserted, and Utsuritachi is clear Jitetsu.
Lower half Yakihaba narrow, Small-Notare mixed with Small-Gunome, upper half Notare mixed with Gunome and Togariba, Yakihaba big Gunome in some places, Yubashiri-kakari, Nijuubagokoro, etc. Sunagashi-shikirinikakari, especially Jiba, is excellent and well done.
