Ichinohira Yasuyo, commonly known as Tamaki Koichi, was born in Satsuma in 1680 as the eldest son of Namihei Ichinohira Yasusada, and first learned sword forging from his father, and later learned from Yamato no kami Yasuyuki, the main family of Namihira. It is said that.
In 1721, when Yasushiro was 42 years old, he and his fellow countryman Masakiyo Miyahara were summoned by the 8th Shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune to forge swords at Edohama Palace, and Yasushiro and Masakiyo were recognized for their skills and became Hitoyo. He was allowed to cut the hollyhock pattern (Ichiyou Aoimon), and received the Syumenokami in July on his way back.
He died in the 13th year of Kyoho at the age of 49. Yasushiro's work seems to have been favored by Yoshimune, and is used as a gift, and is also designated as Juyo Bunkazai.
This sword has an inscription on it that is thought to have been cut during suriage. Judging from the receipt Juryo-Mei, It was made after Kyoho 6th year.
