- 志津三郎兼氏は、大和手掻派の刀工で、当初は包氏と銘し、後に美濃国多芸郡志津（現岐阜県海津市南濃町志津）に移住した際に兼氏と改銘したと伝える。しかし、包氏の在銘物には初代兼氏よりも時代の下るものしか見られず、兼氏同人とみられるものはすべて無銘極めとなる。兼氏の師伝については、古来より正宗門として正宗十哲の一人にも数えられ、現存する作刀からみても正宗からかなりの影響を受けており、充分首肯できるものである。兼氏の作風は、大和伝を基調としたものと相州伝を基調とした二様があり、前者を大和志津、後者を志津として極めている。この刀は、反り深く、腰反りつき、身幅広く、先幅も広い豪壮で優美な体配で、地沸が厚くつき、地景よく入り、映り立ち、冴えた地鉄に、のたれに、互の目・丁子刃など交え、足太く入り、金筋・沸筋・砂流し頻りに掛る見事な働きを見せ、匂深く、匂口明るく冴える。刃肉つき頗る健全な覇気溢れる最高傑作である。池田輝政の孫、初代岡山藩主池田光政の佩刀と伝え、志津三郎兼氏で伝来した名刀である。Shidu Saburou Kaneuji is a Yamato Tegai swordsmith who was initially named [包氏] and is reportedly renamed [兼氏] when he later moved to Minonokuni Tagigun Shidu.Kaneuji's master's biography has been counted as one of Masamunejittetsu as a Masamune gate since ancient times, but even from the viewpoint of existing swords, it is considerably influenced by Masamune, and it can be fully agreed.
Kaneuji has two styles, one based on Yamatoden and the other based on Soshuden, the former being Yamato Shizu and the latter Shizu.
This sword has Deep Sori, Koshizori-tsuki, Wide Mihaba and wide Sakihaba.It has a magnificent and elegant appearance.
Jinie entered fine, Chikei entered well, Utsuritatsu, Notare, Gunome, Mixed Choujiba.Enter Ashi thickly. Kinsuji, Niesuji and Sunagashi shikirini-kakaru. It works well. Deep Nioi, Nioikuchi is bright and clear. Haniku-tsuku, It is a masterpiece full of ambition. It is said to have been the sword of Mitsumasa Ikeda, the grandson of Terumasa Ikeda, the first lord of the Okayama domain, and a famous sword handed down by Saburo Kaneuji Shizu.
