- 備中青江派は、備中高梁川下流域を中心に活躍した刀工群で、平安末期承安頃の安次を祖として始まると伝えられ、平安末期から鎌倉前期暦仁頃までのものを古青江、それ以降を青江と大別している。吉次は、安次の孫で、鎌倉前期貞永頃に活躍している。この刀は、板目肌に、杢目交じり、映り立つ地鉄に、直刃調に、浅くのたれて、小互の目交り、小足・葉入り、小沸つき、古調な小乱れ刃を焼くなど、古青江の特色を遺憾なく発揮して出来がよく、800年近い時を超え尚且つ健全な名品である。Bicchu Aoe school is a group of swordsmiths who were active mainly in the lower reaches of the Takahashi river in Bicchu. and is said to have started with Yasutsugu at the end of the Heian period and around the Joan period.
and the swordsmiths from the end of the Heian period to around Rekijin in the early Kamakura period are known as Ko-Aoe, After that, it is broadly classified as Aoe. Yoshitsugu is Yasutsugu's grandson and was active in the early Kamakura period around Jouei.
This sword has Itamehada, Mixed Mokume, Utsuritatsu Jitetsu, Suguha-style, Shallow Notare, Mixed Small-Gunome, Small-Ashi and You entered, Small-Nie-tsuki, Baking an old-fashioned Small-Midare-ba, etc. It is well-made, full demonstrating the characteristics of the Ko-Aoe region, and is a masterpiece that has survived nearly 800 years and is still in good condition.
