- 初代兼若は、名を辻村甚六といい、志津三郎兼氏の末裔と伝え、前田利家に召喚され美濃より加賀に移住し、加州兼若派の祖となる。元和二年に越中守を受領、名を高平と改めている。二代兼若は、名を又助といい、初代の三男として慶長十五年に生まれ、寛永五年兼若を襲名、延宝五年に六十六歳で没。三代兼若は、名を四郎右衛門といい、又助の子で、延宝五年に兼若を襲名、宝永八年没、前田家の庇護の元、兼若家の名を高めた。金沢藩では「兼若を持っている者には禄はひくくても娘を嫁にやる」と言われるほど称賛され、「加賀正宗」と呼称された。この刀は、身幅広く、鋒やや延びる豪壮な姿で、焼き深く、沸匂極めて深く、金筋・沸筋・砂流し幾重にも頻りに掛るなど刃中盛んに働き、足・葉よく入り、匂口明るく冴え、覇気溢れ、優れた出来栄えを見せている。The first Kanewaka, whose name was Jinroku Tsujimura, is said to have been a descendant of Shizusaburo Kaneuji, moved from Mino to Kaga, and became the founder of the Kashu Kanewaka school.
