- 鎬造、庵棟、身幅広く、反り尋常、中鋒やや延びる。Shinogidukuri, Iorimune, Wide Mihaba, Standard Sori, Chu-Kissaki slightly extended.

- 初代兼若は、名を辻村甚六といい、志津三郎兼氏の末裔と伝え、前田利家に召喚され美濃より加賀に移住し、加州兼若派の祖となる。元和二年に越中守を受領、名を高平と改めている。二代兼若は、名を又助といい、初代の三男として慶長十五年に生まれ、寛永五年兼若を襲名、延宝五年に六十六歳で没。三代兼若は、名を四郎右衛門といい、又助の子で、延宝五年に兼若を襲名、宝永八年没、前田家の庇護の元、兼若家の名を高めた。金沢藩では「兼若を持っている者には禄はひくくても娘を嫁にやる」と言われるほど称賛され、「加賀正宗」と呼称された。この刀は、身幅広く、鋒やや延びる豪壮な姿で、焼き深く、沸匂極めて深く、金筋・沸筋・砂流し幾重にも頻りに掛るなど刃中盛んに働き、足・葉よく入り、匂口明るく冴え、覇気溢れ、優れた出来栄えを見せている。The first Kanewaka, whose name was Jinroku Tsujimura, is said to have been a descendant of Shizusaburo Kaneuji, moved from Mino to Kaga, and became the founder of the Kashu Kanewaka school. In the 2nd year of Genwa, he received the title of Etchu no kami and changed his name to Takahira. In the Kanazawa domain, he was so praised that it was said, ``If you have Kanewaka, you will marry your daughter even if you get less stipend,'' and he was called ``Kaga Masamune.''
