- 実阿は、西蓮国吉の子で、相州伝屈指の名工の一人である左文字（大左）の父と伝えられ、現存する年紀作に嘉暦二年（１３２７年）、元弘三年（１３３３年）紀と建武二年（１３３５年）紀の太刀がある事から、その作刀時期が鎌倉末期から南北朝初期である事が分かる。入西 - 西蓮 - 実阿 - 大左と続く筑前鍛冶は、実阿までは大和伝に影響を受けた直刃を基調として地鉄に綾杉風の肌が交じる古い九州物独特の作風で、実阿の子である左文字（大左）からは時代の潮流に乗るように地刃共に明るく冴えた華やかな相州伝へと変貌している。この刀は、元は大太刀であったと思われ、身幅3.2cmと広く、先幅も広く鋒延びごころとなる南北朝初期の豪壮な体配で、小板目肌つみ、杢目交じり、湯走り掛る美しい地鉄に、直刃調、小互の目交じり、小沸深くよくつき、金筋幾重にも頻りに掛る匂口明るく冴える刃を焼く最高傑作である。Jitsua was the son of Nishiren Kuniyoshi and is said to be the father of Samonji (Osa), one of the outstanding master craftsmen of Soshu tradition. 1333) and Kenmu 2nd (1335) era swords, we know that they were made from the end of the Kamakura era to the beginning of the Nanbokucho era.
