- 新々刀上々作である名工宗次は、享和三年奥州白河に生まれ、名を固山宗兵衛といい、加藤綱俊の兄綱英門となる。後桑名藩工となり、弘化二年に備前介を受領、江戸麻布・四谷等に住し鍛刀している。この刀は、身幅広く反り尋常、鋒延びごころの均整の取れた姿で、天保八年、宗次34歳の作となる。小板目肌に柾目交じり、地沸微塵に厚くつく清良な地鉄に、互の目に、尖刃交え変化に富む刃を焼き、金筋が互の目の山を横切り幾重にも長く頻りに掛り、地刃明るく冴え渡る最高傑作である。尚且つ頗る健全で茎も美しく、ハバキ元に生刃が残る。Shinshintou Joujousaku, a master craftsman, was born in Shirakawa, Oshu in the third year of Kyowa.His name is Soubee Koyama, and he became the brother of Tsunatoshi Kato.Became Tsunahide-mon, the older brother of Tsunatoshi Kato.After becoming a Kuwana domain builder, he received Bizensuke in the second year of Koka, and lived in Edo Azabu, Yotsuya, etc. and is a swordsmith.
This sword has a wide Mihaba, Standard Sori, Kissaki-nobigokoro well-proportioned appearance, and Is made by Munetsugu 34 years old, in the 8th year of Tenpo.
Small-itamehada ,Mixed Masame, Jinie fine and thick, for a clean good Jigane, Gunome, Mixed Togariba, It is a masterpiece that Yaki a variety of blades, Kinsuji crosses the mountains of Gunome and hangs many times long and frequently, Jiba is bright and clear. Moreover , It is Kenzen and has beautiful Nakago, and Ubu-ba remains at the base of the Habaki.
