後藤家は、足利義政に使えた初代祐乗から十七代典乗まで、将軍家の御用を務め役４００年もの長き繁栄した。初代祐乗は美濃彫様式を集大成して精巧で格式高い後藤彫（家彫）を確立した。
後藤家の分家、加州金工郡の中核的な存在の理兵衛系に後藤光保がいる。Syakudouji Katachibori Kiniroe
The Goto family prospered for 400 years, serving the shogunate family from the first Yujo who served Ashikaga Yoshimasa to the 17th Tenjo. The first Yujo established Goto-bori (Iebori), which was elaborate and highly prestigious, by compiling the Mino-bori style.
