Kitagawa (Kawa) Souten is a metal worker who lived in Hikone Nakayabu in the middle of the Edo period. His first name was Hidenori. His inscription Souheishi is the name of Nyudo.
The works of this school founded Hikone-bori, which was a branch of Mino-bori, and became popular and widely loved in the Edo period.
The tsuba uses iron or Syakudo as a base iron, and the most representative ones are those that use Takabori Iroe, which is rich in the four seasons, and those that have Japanese and Chinese figures and battle scenes with Nikuborijisukashi and pine trees.
