Shigekuni was a descendant of the Yamato Den Tekaki school, and his name was Kurozaburo.
He was one of the most famous craftsmen of the Shinto era, and after being called by Ieyasu Tokugawa of Sunpu, he moved to Kishu around the Genwa era following Yorinobu Tokugawa, the founder of the Kishu Tokugawa family.
