Drscription
The Bitchu Aoe school is a group of swordsmiths who were active mainly in the lower reaches of the Takahashi River in Bitchu, and is said to have started with Yasutsugu at the end of the Heian period and around the Joan period. It is broadly separated from Aoe.
It is said that Moritsugu was the son of Yasutsugu in the late Heian period, but since there is no reliable signature of Yasuji, Moritsugu is the de facto ancestor, and the same name continued for several generations into the Nanbokucho period. The guardian of the Nanbokucho period was called Saemonnojyo, and it has been designated as an Juyo Bunkazai and Juyo Bijutsuhin.

This sword is a rare Tanto with a long Mei(inscription) ``Bicchunokuni jyu Moritsugu-saku'' and a date of ``November 2nd year of Enbun'' during the Nanbokucho period. This sword has a slender and elegant figure. Chikei entered often, Hadatachi Dan-Utsuritatsu Jigane, Mixed Hotsure Hoso-Suguha, Kinsuji and Sunagashi entered finely A masterpiece.
