- 鎬造、庵棟、身幅広く、反りやや浅く、先幅広く、中鋒やや延びる。Shinogidukuri, Iorimune, Wide Mihaba, Slightly shallow Sori, Wide Sakihaba, Chu-Kissaki slightly extended.

- 板目肌つみ、杢目肌交じり、地沸微塵に厚く付き、地景頻りに入り、鉄明るく冴える。Itamehada-tsumi, Mixed Mokumehada, Jinie entred fine and thickly, Chikei entered frequently, Iron is bright and clear.

- 重国は、大和伝手掻派の末裔で、名を九郎三郎といい、駿府の徳川家康に召されたのち、元和頃紀州徳川家の家祖徳川頼宣に従って紀州に移った新刀期屈指の名工である。本作は、地沸厚くつき、黒い地景が頻りに入り、杢目交じりの板目肌が潤々と明るく冴えた美しい地鉄に、直刃調に、浅くのたれて、ほつれ・小互の目・打ちのけなど交え、匂深く、匂口明るく冴える傑作である。Shigekuni was a descendant of the Yamato Den Tekaki school, and his name was Kurozaburo.
He was one of the most famous craftsmen of the Shinto era, and after being called by Ieyasu Tokugawa of Sunpu, he moved to Kishu around the Genwa era following Yorinobu Tokugawa, the founder of the Kishu Tokugawa family.
