- 重国は、大和伝手掻派の末裔で、名を九郎三郎といい、駿府の徳川家康に召されたのち、元和頃に紀州徳川家初代の徳川頼宣に従って紀州に移った新刀期屈指の名工である。本作は、身幅広く、堂々とした姿で、板目肌に、杢目肌交じり、鎬地は柾掛り、地沸微塵に厚くつき、地景細かく頻りに入る黒く冴えた地鉄に、典型的な直刃を焼き、小沸深くつき、金筋砂流し頻りに掛り、匂深く、沸匂が美しく絡み、匂口明るく冴え渡り、肉置き豊かで頗る健全な大和伝の最高傑作である。Shigekuni was a descendant of the Yamato Den Tekaki school, and his name was Kurozaburo.
He was one of the most famous craftsmen of the Shinto era, and after being called by Ieyasu Tokugawa of Sunpu, he moved to Kishu around the Genwa era following Yorinobu Tokugawa, the founder of the Kishu Tokugawa family.
This sword has wide Mihaba, dignified appearance, Itamehada and mixed Mokumehada, Shinogiji is Masagakari, Jinie entered fine and thick, Chikei entered frequent and finely with blackish clear Jigane, typical Suguha-yaki, Small-Nie entered deeply, Kinsuji and Sunagashi entered frequently, Deep Nioi, Beautiful Nie-Nioi entered, Nioikuchi is bright and clear. It is a masterpiece of Yamatoden with rich Nikuoki and Kenzen.
