- 長船守元は、兼光の弟子で、南北朝時代貞治から応安にかけての年紀作がある。この刀は、腰反りつき、小鋒となる優美な姿を呈する小太刀で、杢目肌よく交じる板目肌に、地沸微塵に厚くつき、地景よく入り、乱れ映り鮮やかに立つ地鉄に、直刃調に、のたれて、小互の目交じり、足・葉頻りに入り、湯走り掛り、小沸付き、太い金筋が長く頻りに掛り、二十刃風となり、匂口明るい。やや疲れごころは見られるが、地刃に様々な働きが盛んに現れ、見所の多い在銘の希少な名品である。Osafune Morimoto was a disciple of Kanemitsu and produced a collection of chronological works from the Teiji to Yuan periods of the Nanbokucho period.
