Drscription
The Tegai faction is a group of swordsmiths who were enslaved to Todaiji Temple, and since they lived in front of the Todaiji Temple's Tegai Gate, they came to be called Tegai. It is said that Masamune Jittetsu's Kaneuji also belonged to the Tegai faction, saying that he was the ancestor of Kanenaga around the middle of the Kamakura period (1288).
Kanetoshi is said to be the predecessor of the first Kanenaga, and it is said that Nanbokucho's Kanetoshi was Kanenaga's child and later changed to Kanenaga.

Heirloom to the Sakai family of Himeji, the Edo period sheath inscription states that the sword was presented by Nobunaga to Ieyasu as a gift for military merit in the Battle of Anegawa, and that it was bestowed by Shogun Tsunayoshi to Tairo Sakai Tadakiyo in November 1671.The Tokugawa Sanenori also states that Tadakiyo received the sword from Tsunayoshi in November 8th Expo era,A deed of transfer from the Sakai family issued in 16th Syouwa remains, and Sayagaki and Origami were written by Honami Koson in the same year.
