平安城式象嵌鐔とは、鉄地の板鐔に真鍮素材として絵風の象嵌を施している。後世の作には、金銀素銅赤銅山銅などいろいろの地金を併用するようになり、鐔の形状も大小、厚薄など多種多様になった。平安城式象嵌鐔という用語が示すように、この一派は、主として京都あるいは近郊に在住した工人たちの作った物とされている。Marugata Tetsuji Shinchuzougan Jisukashikebori

As the term Heianjo-style inlaid tsuba suggests, this school is said to have been made mainly by craftsmen who lived in Kyoto or its suburbs.
