Carving
The front has a plain sword carved into the Hinaka, and the back side has a Hinaka with goma-bashi carved into it.
Drscription
The Yamato Tegai school was a group of swordsmiths that originated from Kanenaga around the late Kamakura period (1288), and like the Shikkake school, they were subordinate to Todaiji Temple, and flourished during the Nanbokucho period.
It is said that Kanesada was the son of the first Kanenaga and the second Kanenaga, and was active around the Bunpo period of the late Kamakura period or around the Jouwa period of the Nanbokucho period. After that, succession continued until the mid-Muromachi period, and Kanesada around the Ouei period is thought to be the second generation.
This Tanto is a rare one with the Kanesada two-character inscription still remain. Narrow Mihaba, elegant appearance with Uchizori, Jinie entered thick, Nie-Utsuritatsu Jigane, Hososuguha, Hotsure, Kuichigai-shikirinikakari, Small-Nie entered well, Kinsuji, It works well in sword with Niesuji-kakaru, Nioikuchi is bright and clear, a masterpiece.
