Choshu, along with Mito in the east, had a large number of metalwork and mass-produced tsuba.
The Okamoto family is a powerful group in Choshu, with Tomoharu as the founder and succeeded by Tomoyoshi, Mantaka, Banichi, Tomotaka, Toyoaki, Toyonobu and Tomoyoshi.
Toyoaki is the sixth generation of the Okamoto family. He was a craftsman employed by the Choshu domain.
Toyoaki took over as head of the family in 1822 and is known to have lived until the Ansei era.
Tetsuji Marugata Tsuba with the techniques of Sukidashibori and Taka-Nikubori.
He was a skilled craftsman active in the Choshu metalworking world at the end of the Edo period.
