平安城式象嵌鐔とは、鉄地の板鐔に真鍮素材として絵風の象嵌を施している。
後世の作には、金銀素銅赤銅山銅などいろいろの地金を併用するようになり、鐔の形状も大小、厚薄など多種多様になった。

The Heianjo-style inlay tsuba is an iron plate tsuba with brass material inlaid in a picture style. In later generations, various base metals such as gold, silver, copper, and copper were used together, and the shape of the tsuba became diverse, such as large, small, thick, and thin. As the term Heianjo-style inlaid tsuba suggests, this school is said to have been made mainly by craftsmen who lived in Kyoto or its suburbs.
