Gisuke is the founder of Shimada blacksmithing, and is said to have been named Soshu Masahiro school. He is said to have received the Ichiji character from Yoshitada Imagawa, and is a master craftsman whose style can be mistaken for that of Masamune or Sadamune. Later on, the Gisuke family became Ujichika, Ujiteru, and Yoshimoto, Ujimasa. ・He served the five generations of the Imagawa clan, and flourished into the Edo period. The first generation Gisuke was active around the Kosyo period, the second generation around the Meio era, and the third generation around the Ouei era.
