- 安定は、紀伊石堂の出身で、元和四年生まれ、名を富田宗兵衛といい、江戸に出て和泉守兼重の弟子となり、その後二代康継にも師事、同門の虎徹にも影響を与えたと伝える。新刀上作、切れ味には定評があり、新選組沖田総司の愛刀としても知られる。この刀は、身幅広く、反りの浅い寛文新刀の姿で、小板目肌に、板目肌交じり、よく練れて地沸厚くつき潤い冴え渡る美しい地鉄に、互の目丁子に、湯走り・飛び焼き掛り、足よく入り、黒く輝く沸が深くつき、粗沸を交え、匂深く、匂口明るく冴え、迫力溢れ、いかにも切れそうな傑作である。Yasusada was born in Ishidou, Kii, and was born in the 4th year of Genna. His name is Munebei Tomita. He went to Edo and became a disciple of Izuminokami Kanesada, studied under the second generation Yasutsugu, and reportedly influenced Kotetsu.
Shintou Jousaku has a good reputation for sharpness, and is also known as the sword of Shinsengumi Okita Souji.
