Rai Kunizane is said to have been Kunitoshi's son and Kunimitsu's younger brother, and is thought to have assisted Kunimitsu, as he made very few swords. They were active from the end of the Kamakura period through Nanbokucho period.
The Rai school was founded by Kuniyuki, and during the late Kamakura period it became the leading swordsmith group in Yamashiro, replacing the Awataguchi school.
This sword has wide Sakihaba, Deep Sori, The style of Enbun Jouji period, with its sculpted Kissaki-Nobigokoro, Itamehada-nerete, Mokume and Mixed Nagarehada, Jinie entered fine and thick, Chikei entered, Utsuritatsu Jigane, Suguha-style and Chouji, Wrabite-Chouji, mixed Gunome, Yubashiri, Togiyaki entered frequently, Ashi and You entered frequently and long, Small-Nie entered deeply, Kinsuji and Sunagashi entered finely, Nioikuchi is bright, It is a masterpiece that is close to Kuniyuki's work.
