- 三原派は、鎌倉末期から室町期にかけて備後国三原の地に栄えた一派で、鎌倉末期正和頃の正家を祖とすると伝える。備後国には大和の諸大寺の荘園があったため、三原派は大和物の影響が伺われる。この刀は、横手のない菖蒲造で、板目肌に、杢目肌交じり、地沸厚くつき、地景頻りに入り、映り鮮やかにたつ美しい地鉄に、中直刃に、ほつれ・食い違いなど交え、小足・葉頻りに入り、小沸よくつき、金筋細かく掛り、地刃明るく冴えたる三原の祖正家極めの傑作である。The Mihara school was a school that flourished in the Mihara region of Bingo Province from the late Kamakura period to the Muromachi period, and is said to have originated with Masaie, who lived around the Shouwa era of the late Kamakura period.
Because Bingo Province had manors belonging to the great temples of Yamato Province, the Mihara school shows influences from Yamatomono.
