The Takada school began when Fujiwara Tomoyuki, the founder of the Takada school and a disciple of Sadamune, forged swords in BungoTakada, around the time of Kenmu, in the early Nanbokucho period. During the Muromachi period, it became a major sword production area under the patronage of the Ohtomo clan, and flourished greatly until the Edo period.
This Fujiwara Iehide is thought to have been a swordsmith from the late Muromachi period, around the Eisho to Tenbun period. This sword has 80.9cm long, Mihaba 3.5cm, It is a magnificent sword weighing over 1kg.
