- 南北朝末期の明徳二年に祐定銘の最初の作刀が見られ、その後末備前と呼ばれる室町後期の長船鍛冶の中で最も繁栄した一家で、彦兵衛尉、与三左衛門尉、源兵衛尉などが上手である。永正年間は、与三左衛門尉祐定が活躍した時期にあたる。この刀は、板目肌がつみ、乱れ映りたつ地鉄に、腰開き互の目に、丁子刃・蟹の爪風の刃など交じり、湯走り・飛び焼き頻りに掛かり、足・葉頻りに入り、金筋・砂流し頻りに掛かり、華やかに乱れる躍動感と覇気溢れる傑作である。The first sword made by the Sukesada family was in the second year of the Meitoku era (1391) during the Nanbokucho period.
Later, this family prospered among the long-ship blacksmiths of the late Muromachi period, known as Sue Bizen, and skilled craftsmen included Hikobeenojo, Yosozaemonnojo, and Genbeenojo.
The Eisho era (1504-1521) was the period when Yosazaemonnojo Sukesada was particularly active.
This sword has Itamehada-tsumi, Midare-Utsuritatsu with Jigane. Koshibiraki-Gunome, Choujiba, mied Kaninotsume-style, Yubashiri, Tobiyaki entered frequently, There are Ashi and You frequently, Kinsuji and Sunagashi entered frequently, Gorgeouse Midare, making this a masterpiece brimming with dynamism and magnificent sword.
