Drscription
Masamitsu was a master swordsmith said to be the son of Osafune Kanemitsu; he produced swords bearing inscriptions dating from the second year of Enbun to the sixth year of Ouei.
This sword has wide Mihaba, Wide Sakihaba, Nanbokucho period style with Kissaki extended, Mokumehada and Mixed Small-Mokumehada, Jinie entered fine and thick, Chikei entered frequently, Utsuritatsu with beautiful Jigane, Gunome, Koshinohiraita-Ha, It has some angular blades mixed in, extremely Kenzen, an excellent sword.
It is said to be a [Kanemitsu] sword bestowed by Shogun Iemitsu upon Ikeda Mitsumasa, the lord of the Okayama Domain, and it has been designated as a “ Tokubetsu Kicho Token [Kanemitsu]” in the name of Matsudaira Tadatoshi, the 14th head of the Oshi Domain.
