- 備中青江派は、備中高梁川下流域を中心に活躍した刀工群で、平安末期承安頃の安次を祖として始まると伝えられ、平安末期から鎌倉前期暦仁頃までのものを古青江、それ以降を青江と大別している。南北朝の代表工には、次直・次吉・守次らがいて、その作風には、直刃と華やかな逆丁子乱れの二様があるが、概して次吉には直刃が、次直には逆丁子乱れが多くいずれも匂口が締まり、明るく冴える所が見どころである。この刀は、元は三尺を悠に超える大太刀で、身幅広く3.4cm、重量も921gあり、鋒延びる南北朝時代の豪壮な姿で、板目肌に、杢目よく交じり、地沸が厚くつくき、映りが立つ肌立ちごころの地鉄に、逆掛かった丁子を主調に、逆掛かった互の目を交え、逆がかった足・葉が頻りに入り、金筋・沸筋頻りにかかり、匂口明るい。次直の作と思われる青江逆丁子の典型作で、刃中よく働き、覇気溢れ、頗る健全な見所の多い重要候補となる最高傑作である。Bichu-Aoe faction school is a group of swordsmiths who were active mainly in the lower reaches of the Bichu-Takahashi River, It is roughly divided into. With the magnificent appearance of the Nanbokucho period, which extends to Kissaki. Itamehada, Mixed Mokume well, Jinie entered thickly, Utsuritatsu-Hadatachigokoro Jigane, Sakagakatta-Chouji mainly, Mixed Sakagakatta Gunome, Sakagakatta-Ashi and You entered well, Kinsuji and Niesuji-shikirini-kakari, Nioikuchi is bright. A typical work by Aoe-Sakachouji, which is thought to have been written by Tsugunao.
