Gassan was a blacksmith of the Maikusa school in the late Heian period, and the first Kioumaru is said to have been a craftsman employed by Hiraizumi Fujiwarano Hidehira. It was later moved to Gassan in Dewa Province, where it became popular for both its high practicality and the beauty of its Ayasugihada, and flourished throughout the Muromachi period.
This sword has Mokumehada flows to create a beautiful Ayasugihada with Hadatatta Jigane. Along with the Ayasugi, Yubashiri and Midare-Utsuritachi, Small-Gunome became Nijuba-style, Small-Ashi entered, Kinsuji and Sunagashi-kakari, Nioikuchi is bright. This is a masterpiece from Ayasugi.
