- 古伯耆鍛治は、三条宗近などと並び、直刃から湾刀に移行した日本刀最初期の一派で、平安中期から活躍した。祖と云われる安綱の名物童子切が名高い。貞綱は、安綱の孫と伝え、平安後期元暦頃に活躍している。
この刀は、身幅広く3.3cmもあり、腰反りつく豪壮な姿で、板目肌に、流れ肌交じり、肌立ち、地沸微塵につき、地景よく入る黒みを帯びた地鉄に、直刃調、小乱れ交じり、ほつれ・打ちのけ・湯走り頻りに掛り、輝く細い金筋が頻りに掛り、匂深く、匂口潤みごころに明るい。刃肉つき、手持ちも重く、頗る健全で、野趣に富み古色蒼然とした古伯耆の特色がよく表れ、その豪壮な姿より貞綱と鑑される優品である。Kohouki Yasutsuna, along with Sanjo Munechika and others, was one of the earliest master craftsmen of Japanese swords, He was one of the earliest master craftsmen of Japanese swords, who moved from Suguha to Wantou. He was active during the mid-Heian period, The famous Doji Kiri Yasutsuna is famous.Sadatsuna is said to be Yasutsuna's grandson and was active in the late Heian period.
